Office Assistant for Prospect Research and Management

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY:

The Student Office Assistant for Prospect Research and Management (PRM) will assist the UM Foundation PRM team to perform a wide variety of duties that include working on specific projects. This position is responsible for data entry, conducting online research tasks using various computer software programs, and review of news alerts, as well as handling other projects as they arise.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Enter constituent updates and photos into the Banner database as needed;
  • Conduct research using LexisNexis, online tools, and other programs;
  • Assist with electronic file storage project as needed;
  • Review automated news alerts and cross-check with information in the database to prepare email communication to UMF staff about demographic or other necessary changes to the donor database;
  • Provide assistance to other Foundation departments on occasion to ensure completion of special projects; and
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the director of prospect research, the associate director, and/or the senior analyst.

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Dependable and reliable
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency with operation of basic office equipment such as personal computer, copier, and scanner
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office software applications
  • Proficient use of Excel
  • Strong internet research capabilities, including use of Google, LinkedIn and Facebook
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-directed, and yet able to work in a team environment
  • A clear understanding of the need for confidentiality of sensitive information
  •

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a University of Montana student
  • Database experience
  • Familiarity with computer software applications, especially Microsoft Office suite
  • Attention to detail and excellent organization skills
  • Ability to understand the need for confidentiality of donor and other information, and to comply with Foundation policies in that regard

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Interest in acquiring hands-on experience with prospect research and philanthropy
  • Work-study funding
