Zero Waste Volunteer Coordinator
Missoula Compost Collection LLC. is a locally owned and operated waste management company that specializes in organic waste diversion form the landfill. We are seeking an intern for the spring and summer of 2019 with skills in volunteer coordinating, environmental studies, and public outreach/education. The applicant will need to be comfortable engaging and educating the public about zero waste efforts in Missoula and the benefits this has to our community, the environment, and future generations.
The applicant must be motivated to recruit volunteers and develop a "Green Team" that will help keep waste streams from being contaminated at large events through education (no "hands on" handling of waste is required). Social media and strong communication skills are a plus. This is a great opportunity to meet and work with stakeholders in the environmental/zero waste effort in Missoula, Missoula City and County officials, NPO members, entertainment managers, and other leaders in the zero waste effort.
The volunteer coordinator and green team will be needed at the following events in Missoula:
- Concerts at the Big Sky Brewery,
- The KettleHouse Amphitheater and Ogren Park
- The Western Montana Fair
- Out to Lunch/Downtown Tonight
- The River City Roots Festival
A strong commitment will be required from the intern to attend these events from date hire to the end of August 2019. Compensation will be discussed upon interview.
